Support: Digital Betacam Inner Drum Installation
The following is a guideline for the installation of the DVW Series Digital Betacam Inner Drum Assembly, as well as the subsequent adjustments to the VTR. Performance of these steps should be considered critical in terms of achieving satisfactory VTR performance. (Ref. SONY Maintenance Manual, Part 1)
SECTION 8-2-1. Inner Drum Assembly Installation – Process Outline
Removal and Replacement
1. Remove Rotary Head Cleaner Assembly: Refer to P8-11
2. Remove Upper Drum Cover: Refer to P8-11
3. Disconnect Flexible Board (CN241/HN-185 Board): Refer to P8-12
4. Remove Brush/Slip Ring Assembly: Refer to P8-12
5. Remove Upper Drum Assembly: Refer to P8-12
6. Remove Inner Drum Assembly: Refer to P8-13
7. Cleaning. Drum Assembly Mounting Surface, Drum Support Mounting Surface, Lower Drum Flange Surface, Tape Running Surface, Lead Surface, and Connecting Points.): Refer to P8-14
8. Install Inner Drum Assembly: Refer to P8-15
9. Install Drum Eccentricity Adjustment Tool: Refer to P8-16
10. Adjust Inner Drum Eccentricity: Refer to P8-17
11. Remove Drum Eccentricity Adjustment Tool: Refer to P8-17 An oscilloscope.
12. Clean Height Determining Plate's Lower Surface, Drum Support's Surface, and Upper Drum Contacting Surface: Refer to P8-18
13. Install Upper Drum Assembly: Refer to P8-19
14. Cleaning (DR-205 Board's Contacting Points and Brush/Slip Ring Assembly Mounting Surface): Refer to P8-20
15. Install Brush and Slip Ring Assembly: Refer to P8-20
16. Connect Flexible Board (CN241/HN-185 Board): Refer to P8-20
17. Clean Rotary Heads & Tape Path Surface: Refer to P8-21
18. Install Upper Drum Cover: Refer to P8-21
19. Install Rotary Head Cleaner Assembly: Refer to P8-21
Adjustments After Installation
20. Confirm Tape Running: Refer to Section 8-4-2.
21. Confirm Video Tracking: Refer to Section 8-4-3.
22. Confirm CTL Head Height: Refer to Section 8-4-4.
23. Adjust CTL Head Position: Refer to Section 8-4-5.
24. Confirm Audio/TC Head Height: Refer to Section 8-4-6.
25. Adjust Audio/TC Head Position: Refer to Section 8-4-9.
26. Perform Servo/DT and RF Adjustments: Refer to Section 8-5.
